Comb Roller/ Rubber Disc Roller

The rubber disc return roller avoid the build up of material that can be
deposited onto the roller surface which can cause the roller diameter to develop
an irregular worn surface and change shape. This is often a major cause of belt
mistracking. JM Roller rubber disc return roller are a reliable and simple
maintenance solution to this common belt conveyor problem.

Application and selection guide

Comb rollers, also described as rubber disc return rollers, use spaced discs on a return support arrangement. The disc layout is relevant where material carried back on the belt can build up on a conventional smooth roller surface.

Where this product fits

Review the condition of the returning belt and the type of carryback before selecting the disc arrangement. Sticky fines and uneven deposits can affect contact differently from dry granular material.

Information for a suitable proposal

Specify disc position, outside diameter, shaft form and the existing support frame. Include photographs showing where deposits collect and confirm whether the problem also requires attention to belt cleaning upstream.

The roller, its mounting frame and the belt form one working assembly. Confirm the shell length, shaft end form and installed clearances against the existing structure. Photographs help identify the arrangement, while an approved drawing is preferable when the replacement must fit an established conveyor.

Installation and maintenance considerations

Inspect disc wear and spacing during planned shutdowns. Remove accumulated material using the site’s approved procedure and check the roller for free rotation before restarting.

Include belt speed, conveyed material, expected contamination and the position on the conveyor in the inquiry. A carrying position, a loading point and a return strand expose a roller to different duties. Ask for the proposed bearing and sealing arrangement to be checked against those conditions rather than choosing by outside appearance alone.
